The subjects of The Archive series are drawn from both memory and life. The static subjects are animated by the tonal variations and marks beyond their outer contours. By alternating between highly realistic representation and loose mark-making and erasure, I aim to capture both the tangible and intangible qualities of the subject.
Drawings are principally done in charcoal, conté, and pencil on rag paper. Some include collage and acrylic. All but the longer, German Head Yoke, are 96.5 x 127cm.
